swimmeeting
In 1997 the International Swimmeeting took place for the first time as a small competition. 245 athletes raced in the first edition in the swimming pool Albert Pircher in Bolzano, which is nothing to the 750 athletes that we welcome each year. At the time the competition was far from being international as we know it today, teams were coming from neighbour counties. Race times were taken manually and Internet as well as jackpot were still alien words to us. Though, we were already aiming to organize our event as an international swimmeeting with top stars of various nationalities. Each year, becoming richer in experience and contacts, the event has grown and with it the level of benefits. Nowaday numerous world champions, Olympic champions, participants of International Championships and members of several National teams now in Bolzano give each other hard times to suceed in Bolzano. What didn’t change and resulted to be a sucessful formula from the start on were the swimming distances: in every stroke the 50 and 100 meters and the 100 medley, keeping the races "short, fast, explosive." This year again we are looking forward to 2 days of exciting racing and a great atmosphere!
